The Master Plan of Evangelism
This book, Master Plan of Evangelism, lays out Jesus’ plans to reach the world and how we should implement what Jesus did in our lives today. Here are a few things that I have learned from this book and will try to implement in my life and ministry. I hope they will be a help to you.
One, Jesus was focused on training others to do the job of taking the Gospel around the world.
He was not focused on holding huge meetings or gaining the approval of the masses. Of course, there are examples of Jesus preaching to large crowds and helping them. However, a majority of Jesus’ ministry was spent with his twelve disciples. Jesus focused on twelve men that would continue after him and change the world. We can see that we should be focused on training men rather than reaching the masses. Many times we are only worried about numbers and trying to have the biggest church or ministry, but the truth is that Jesus did not do this, and numbers are not the only indication of whether a ministry is a success or not.
Two, Jesus’ method of training was not in a classroom.
He trained his men life on life and by spending time with them. He did not have set lectures but taught them while doing ministry. Many times we learn more from real-life circumstances than from a class. Let’s seek to train others in a more practical way than just having a few classes. Let’s do the ministry with them and get them involved in what we are doing daily. It will make a more significant impact on their lives. If we want to work in someone’s life, then we should spend time with them in everything that we do.
Three, we must teach men how to teach others.
If we are going to start something big, we need to teach men how to reproduce and train someone else. Our goal is not just to train men but to train men how to train men. The key to reaching the world with the Gospel is the reproduction of disciples. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. If every Christian reaches one other person every year and that person reaches one other person, we will reach the world very quickly! We must focus on training and discipleship to have a lasting ministry and one that continues on after us.
In conclusion, this book shows us the pattern of ministry that Jesus left for us to follow. That pattern is to train others. I think that he is the best example that we could ever have and should try to model our ministries after Him.
